Happy New Year New Jerusalem Elementary Families!

I hope this letter finds you and your family healthy and staying safe.  The entire staff is looking forward to our newly revised Instructional Plan and reuniting with students and re-establishing a routine for learning.

With the good work of our School Board, Superintendent David Thoming, and district administrators, a plan was developed for a January 19th reopening for site-based learning. (see attached New Jerusalem Elementary School District Reopening Plan document).

Beginning Tuesday, January 19th, the following Instructional Plan will be taking place:

    • Students can choose either Site-Based at school or Distance Learning via Zoom 5 days a week
    • The school day will begin for all students at 8:15am and dismissal will be at 1:30pm
    • Transportation will continue as it did prior to the recent closure. We are working on updating pickup and drop-off times.  A separate communication for all bus riders will be sent separately with specific details
    • Breakfast and Lunches and will go home daily with all students and the school will provide a substantial snack during the school day.  Additionally, curbside lunches will continue to be offered daily
    • Teachers will continue to offer their students both Instructional Models. (Site-Based and Distance Learning via Zoom)

In an effort to support all learning experiences and focused instruction, we are asking that families make a decision for their child (ren) to choose what Instructional Model works best for them and commit to one model.

Families are to select one Instructional Model:

    1. Send child (ren) to school daily for Site-Based learning - masks are required
    2. Remain at home and participate in Distance Learning via Zoom.

Once you have made your decision of which Instructional Model, please inform your classroom teacher so they can begin preparing and planning for instruction. Any families choosing Site – Based model will need to have a signed COVID 19 Student Prevention Protocol Form on file with our office, if not already on file. (see attached)

For Families with no Internet Service or not able to access digital content, paper packets of work will continue to be offered by your teacher with a monitoring plan for accountability.

If you have any questions please contact the office at (209) 835-2597,  or  .

I will be holding a Facebook Live on Wednesday, January 13th, at 4:00 pm to answer any questions you might have.
